“LUCIA, LUIS AND THE WOLF ”

Lucía, Luis y el lobo (Lucia, Luis and the Wolf) is a video installation in “Sala Cero” on the 2nd floor of Galería Animal (Animal Gallery) in Santiago, Chile.  The exhibition is made up of the short films Lucía and Luis that are projected on a wall in the gallery as well as a series of other short animations shown on small screens in a pile of dirt and furniture. The exhibition closes the first stage of an animation project formed by Atallah, Cociña and León. The next stage will be a feature film called La casa lobo (The Wolf House), preparations for the film will start later this year.

Luis is the 2nd short video of the series “Lucía, Luis y el lobo” (”Lucía, Luis and the Wolf”), it is a follow-up to the short video Lucía. The video was shot frame by frame with a digital photo camera. Materials: charcoal, dirt, flowers, found objects and cardboard.

SYNOPSIS: Luis talks about his life in the forest and his relationship with Lucía. He appears in charcoal on the walls of a room filled with broken objects that constantly shift around. Little by little the room clears up as the objects return to their proper places.

NOCTURNO DE CHILE by Niles Atallah, Joaquín Cociña and Cristóbal León

NOCTURNO DE CHILE is composed of two videos: “La cacería” (”The Hunt”) and “La cena” (”The Dinner”). Both videos are adaptations of Roberto Bolaño’s novel by the same title. The videos are meant to be viewed side by side, each video representing an adjacent room. In one room we find a dinner of intellectuals and writers; and in the neighboring room a torture is taking place.

Nocturno was exhibited in the MAVI (Museo de artes visuales) in Santiago, Chile as part of the video art exhibition “Maquina Blanda” from December 2007 - January 2008.

Lucía is the 1st short video of the series “Lucía, Luis y el lobo” (”Lucía, Luis and the Wolf”). The video was shot frame by frame with a digital photo camera. Materials: charcoal, dirt, flowers, found objects and cardboard.

SYNOPSIS: Lucía remembers the summer in which she fell in love with Luis. The furniture whithin a bedroom is shaken and destroyed, meanwhile the charcoal Lucía appears and vanishes on the walls. LUCIA is a stop motion animation based on poetic-narrative text by Cristóbal León, Joaquín Cociña and Niles Atallah.
